Celebrating 50 years of evolution

“Every mould has a unique story, and all together they tell our story.”

– Gianni Piatto / director

■ Our first 50 years

1970

Oranges, lemons and our first moulds

Severino Piatto founded OMIS back in 1969. It all started in a small, 30-square metre workshop where he designed every mould by hand and handcrafted each one with a pantograph. We remember those early days for the high demand for fruit-shaped soap, but especially as the time when we laid the foundations of what was and still is a constantly growing company.

1980

Fashionable moulds

Dior, Chanel, D&G and many others… The Eighties saw the production of several soap ranges created by leading fashion designers and we are proud to have been part of that. The soaps were required not only to reflect the style of the brand but also to complement the packaging, which was often designed to amaze. What made this possible was the attention to detail and the great capacity for communication between our company and the customer, which enabled us to create unique, collectable pieces.

1990

The art of mould making

We have always seen our work as an art form, but it was in the Nineties that artists and moulds became inextricably linked. That period saw the creation of soap collections which reproduced some of the most beautiful artworks in history. From van Gogh to Renoir and Botticelli, every tiny detail was engraved in the mould thanks to the painstaking work of our engraver and our technical design team, as well as to the cutting-edge techniques that have always been the hallmark of OMIS.

2000

Overseas moulds

In the 21st century, thanks to our new facility and the new high speed machining centres, we opened ourselves to the world. We stated working in close collaboration with the leading manufacturers of soap making machines, proudly becoming their partners and developing our exports to overseas markets. The satisfaction we felt by achieving these new goals made us realize that we were on the right track and had to keep moving in that direction.

2010

Moulds, moulds, moulds.

Today we make more moulds in a month than we made in a year when we first started out. Variety is the key feature of every one of working days, offering us the opportunity to put ourselves to the test with new challenges and to give our best in order to satisfy every request. From limited editions to large-scale productions, from hotel soaps to designer pieces, we deliver the most effective solution for the best result each and every time.

The next 50 years

Evolution has always been part of our corporate DNA.

That is what drives our ongoing investment in new technologies and staff training so that we are always ready for new challenges. We realize that it is impossible to be one the best if you stand still, because the future is not something you wait for but something you build.
